The Parti Québécois wins 2 by-elections out of three, and the Parti libéral wins 1. Strongholds are kept. The new Parti indépendantiste (independence 'fundamentalists') meets its first electoral test and left wing pro-independence Québec solidaire has a good showing in Hull. The ADQ's results fall low.
Le Parti Québécois gagne 2 élections partielles sur 3, et le Parti libéral en gagne 1. Les châteaux-forts sont préservés. Le Parti indépendantistes ("purs et durs") rencontre son premier test électoral. Les indépendantiste de gauche de Québec solidaire reçoivent un bon résultat à Hull. L'ADQ voit ses résultats tomber.

Wendy Alexander, leader en chambre du Parti travailliste écossais, déclare l'intention de voter pour la tenue d'un référendum sur l'indépendance, et ce immédiatement plutôt qu'en 2010, comme le veut le plan du Parti national écossais. Cette nouvelle politique, qui contredit l'ancienne, fait controverse.

The by-election campaigns continue. Two are held in Parti Québécois strongholds (Bourget and Pointe-aux-Trembles) and one in a Parti libéral du Québec stronghold (Hull). The PQ candidate in Bourget is actor, poet and sovereigntist rising star Maka Kotto, first African to be elected in Ottawa.
Les campagnes des élections partielles se poursuivent. Deux d'entre elles se déroulent dans des forteresses du Parti Québécois (Bourget et Pointe-aux-Trembles) et une dans une forteresse du Parti libéral du Québec (Hull). Le candidat du PQ dans Bourget est l'acteur, le poète et l'étoile montante souverainiste Maka Kotto, le premier africain élu à Ottawa.

Parti Québécois leader Pauline Marois reveals a draft of the party programme to be voted on by PQ members at the National Council of March 15 and 16. This draft includes a suspension of the obligation to hold a referendum in the first mandate, devolution of powers related to matters such as language, communication and immigration, and a project of "NATIONAL CONVERSATION", directly inspired by the Scottish nationalist initiative of the same name.
La cheffe du Parti Québécois Pauline Marois révèle l'ébauche du programme de parti à être voté par les membres du PQ au Conseil national du 15 et 16 mars.
